Lady Zamar has taken to social media, following the ongoing commentary regarding her accent, saying that this will be the last time she addresses the matter.
Lady Zamar trended on social media after her guest judging feature on Idols South Africa. The singer’s accent was scrutinised by watchers of the popular show, who took to social media to make remarks about her accent. Initially, the star tried to avoid addressing the issue, but after her silence seemed to fuel more commentary, Lady Zamar shared her thoughts on the situation on Twitter.
The singer released her second statement that directly tackled the social media backlash on Monday, 29 July 2019, via Twitter writing, “I’m amazed at how much hate exists on these social media streets, makes me appreciate my fans even more. Zamartians, thank you for always having my back.
Following her tweet, the Sharp Shooter hitmaker then addressed the social media hate, firstly on her Instagram feed and later with a video she posted on Twitter. The video reiterates the singer’s previous sentiments. Moreover, it proves that the singer is not ashamed of what she sounds like, with Lady Zamar speaking in her real voice and accent throughout the video.
In the video, the star is covered by a warm jacket and a hoodie, as a filter creates an opaque layer on the video. Throughout the video, Lady Zamar makes her stance clear by stating, “I actually just realised, I don’t need to address this stuff. My music is what I’m here for. This is what I’m in the industry for, and everything else I’m doing, I feel blessed to be doing…”
